The city is home to a Tribal people, and it has a population over 10,000 people. The majority belongs to the Karbi community and it has about 95%. It is situated in West Karbi Anglong, Assam. There is a Municipal Board Headed by thr Chairman to look after the all round development of the Town. For better Administration the town is diveded into 5 (five) wards; each headed by a Commissioner. Near the main Junction, there is a Park name after Lt. Khorsing Bey that is dedicated to Recreational & Sport activities for Children. The town also has an Indoor Stadium for Badminton & Table Tennis, Football stadium for football players, and well equipped Gym for health lovers.
